George O. Smith (1911–1981) was an American electronics engineer and science fiction author who became a prominent voice in Astounding Science Fiction during the genre’s Golden Age. He’s best remembered for his technically grounded Venus Equilateral series, and was honored with the First Fandom Hall of Fame award in 1980.
